How to Refer Patients to Shellharbour Private Hospital

Shellharbour Private Hospital has accredited specialists as Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs). Our VMO’s run their practices in the local or surrounding areas.

Surgical patients are referred to us by their Specialist/VMO and should complete and submit pre-admission forms.

Direct Referrals

Capsule Endoscopy

A referral form can be obtained from the hospital if the patient meets the requirements of Medicare Australia (for further information, please call 02 4295 2999)

Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy

A direct referral can be made for Colonoscopy and or Gastroscopy provided the patient does not have any of the following conditions:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Warfarin or anticoagulant therapy
  • Renal disease

If a patient does have any of the above conditions, they must first see a Gastroenterologist for consultation.
